Fabulous Liberal Arts Degrees Outside of the USA
Interested in a liberal arts education but unsure if you want to study in the USA? Great news: you don’t have to! While the American system certainly dominates the liberal arts scene amongst colleges, options outside the USA are available in a number of countries.
Liberal arts degrees are popular for a variety of reasons. Some people like that liberal arts majors take classes in a range of disciplines (this means you don’t have to choose a single subject in university, so if you’re someone who has enjoyed many subjects in high school this is great news!). Advocates of the liberal arts would also argue that a broad education better prepares you for working in the real world because you have a more varied knowledge base. Finally, most liberal arts programs will stress communication - both written and spoken. This is something that can be used anywhere, from a corporate job to academia. All of these factors push students towards choosing a liberal arts education every year.
I’ve compiled a list of some of the “greatest hits“ of liberal arts programs that are currently available at EU universities (yes, I’m including the UK even though Brexit seems to still be looming on the horizon). Happy college hunting!
